Happiness is also learned at school

Manual of School Psychology: Happiness is learned (also) at school

The school represents the main place for the cultural and civil growth of future generations. But what is its role in promoting the well-being of pupils and teachers? The volume addresses this question through the introduction of an innovative approach - Integrated Positive Education - which offers a series of practical and accessible teaching tools to help children and the educational community cultivate the fundamental resources to build a "good life" .

The authors Flavia Cristofolini and Andrea Gaggioli propose operational indications to develop four fundamental skills which, if present, can promote well-being: flexible mental strength, a satisfying life, mental health, and finally joy and meaning.

The main objective is to encourage students - but also teachers themselves - to equip themselves with effective tools to be able to adapt, from time to time, to the challenges and circumstances of life, deploying their own strengths of character and appreciating and actively seeking positive emotions. The pro-social values of gratitude, kindness and mutual appreciation - useful for living positive relationships - constitute an integral part of the "value set" that this book intends to help build.
